Intimate LemonSometimes the dullest of photographs can be turned into something quite striking. If you have an image that looks uninteresting, don't be afraid to experiment with the settings in your photo editing software. Whilst in a cafe with a friend, they asked for some lemon with their tea. The waitress brought over a half lemon. After they squeezed it into their tea I propped it up on the side of a tray and took a close-up shot using the macro feature of my pocket camera. Here's how it looked:
A bit dull really, so I shifted the colour from yellow to red, increased the contrast and sharpened it, then added a frame to produce this:
![]() It now looks more like an image that might be captured by an endoscope. It wasn't what I was expecting, which is half the fun of experimenting. Sometimes you don't know just how things will turn out. Whatever photo editing software you use, you can often have fun with the settings and change everyday objects into something interesting.
